Microscope General Cleaning Instructions

Items Needed:

Lens cleaning tissue/paper found here.

Lens Cleaning Solution (85-95% ethanol or methanol)

Cotton Swab

Method:

1. Clean all glass surfaces with alcohol ONLY. Please DO NOT use acetone or xylene on any part of the microscope.

2. Clean eyepieces and objectives daily after use by using a cotton tip swab wrapped with the lens paper. Apply alcohol to the lens paper and clean in a circular motion. Change the paper and repeat the process until the lens is free from sediment and is clear.

3. Clean the base, base lens, and any filters that are used on a regular basis using the same method. Please do not use stiff paper towels.
